Homecoming 2016 Wrap Up

This past week was jam – packed with fun and exciting events: dress up days, decorations, coronation, a parade, and of course, the homecoming game. Monday was “Mime Day” and there was a huge amount of students dressed up. Tuesday was “Trendy Team Tuesday.” The freshmen wore green, sophomores wore yellow, juniors wore red, and the seniors wore blue. Wednesday was “Wacky Wednesday” and that day had the least amount of people dress up. Thursday was “Throwback to the west Thursday” and that was the day the most people dressed up. Friday was “Protect this Turf” and everyone wore blue and gold.

Friday was the best day in the whole week because people involved in homecoming were excused for the day and everyone else pretty much had a free day too. All of the homecoming royalty had practice, took pictures, and got ready for the coronation and the parade. Before coronation, all of the homecoming royalty anxiously waited to walk out, most likely hoping not to trip on anything. As we were announced, we would walk out, pause for pictures, and stand in a line with the rest of the royalty. The spotlight was sort of blinding, but it was fun. The parade was very hot, but seeing all of the kids wave as the cars passed by was really cute.

The football game was a great win, with all 9 points being scored by Cade Strickland, who is now nominated for “The Oklahoman’s Fan’s Choice Player of the Week.” Overall, homecoming week couldn’t have been better, and I can’t wait to see what next year’s homecoming brings.
